The Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) is a four-week academic program offered by various Faculties at the University of British Columbia*, Canada for students from cooperating universities. The program provides the opportunity to take two academic courses while learning about Canadian practices and culture. There a two sessions: one in June and one July to August. SDSU requires interested candidates to register interest via an application in Aztecs Abroad by no later than March 15th; however, you can begin the application with UBC directly at any time their process opens.
The program provides the opportunity to take two courses while learning about Canadian practices and culture.

The packaged fee per student for the 2020 program is ~$4020 USD
($5250 CAD - Canadian Dollars).
The fee includes:
- 2 courses
- Medical insurance*
- Group airport transfer
- Vancouver city tour
- Shared accommodation on UBC Campus
- Orientation and farewell events
- Course materials
- Social activities (some activities may require an additional fee)

*SDSU also enrolls and bills confirmed participants in a mandatory supplemental emergency travel plan.
No other fees are paid to SDSU. All of the program fees are paid directly to UBC.
Flights are arranged independently and are not included in the cost. There is also the option to take a bus or train to Canada.

Though the UBC VSP program offers a wide array of classes and topics to choose from during this 4-week program, UBC will not offer traditional transcripts; instead they issue grade letters or certificates. However, SDSU Advising & Evaluations office has earlier confirmed transfer credits will be accepted with a UBC grade letter from the summer program. We recommend any interested student consult the SDSU Advising & Evaluations Office to ensure the course(s) selected will indeed transfer back to SDSU.
