SDSU Lavin Entrepreneurship Center 
Field Trip to Tijuana, Mexico

In order to participate in this field trip you: 
  • Must have been selected by one of the trip leaders
  • Be in possession of a valid passport book or permanent resident card
  • Complete this on-line application by January 26, 2018 
Program Overview
The purpose of the trip is to expose  Lavin Entrepreneur students to cross border entrepreneurship opportunities and to facilitate further collaborations between SDSU and CETYS University entrepreneurship students. SDSU students must arrive at the designated meeting point on the U.S. side of the border at the time specified. Participants will cross into Mexico as a group and will be met by CETYS University vans which provide transportation. Students will be returned to walk back across the border at approximately 4:45 pm. Additional details will be provided by the trip leaders to students who are accepted into the program.

Students will visit various incubator and co-working space locations located in various parts of Tijuana.

Pre-departure Orientation
Students will be required to complete an online pre-departure survey as part of the application process.
Please wear comfortable shoes and consider bringing a light jacket in case its cold and there is a line to cross back into the U.S.
International students must carry their passport and I-9 document that has been signed by an official at the International Student Center.  
Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) prior to departure
Review the U.S. Department of State information for travel to Mexico

Student Expenses
  • Participants will need a valid passport book prior to the first travel day.
  • Participants will automatically be enrolled in the SDSU Foreign Travel Insurance Program for the day of the trip.
  • The insurance policy is required for all students and costs $20. There are no exceptions for international students.
  • Students will be billed through their SDSU student account in March.
  • Students are responsible for arriving to the border by the scheduled time. Options include the trolley $5 day pass, or private car: ~$7  for parking. 
  • Lunch will be at a restaurant in Tijuana at the student's expense.
