Program Description:
During this 12-day experience, nursing students and faculty from San Diego State work as part of an international interdisciplinary team made up of students and faculty from Universidad Centroamericana and members of Nicaraguan communities. Teams work on developing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable solutions for community-identified health issues. For 2018, the focus of our work will be access to clean water in an agricultural community.

Program cost:
  • $1,800 Payable to Universidad Centroamericana

  • Accommodations US students are housed in University-affiliated housing, 3-4 students/room. Each room has a private bath and air conditioning.
  • Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner)
  • In-country transportation
  • A variety of cultural experiences are included, such as visits to a traditional market, an active volcano, a hammock factory, and a traditional ceramic artisan.

  • 3 course units, awarded by Universidad Centroamericana

Student expenses not included in the program fee:
  • Airfare
  • $60 for Health & travel insurance purchased through SDSU 
  • Incidentals and any other costs

Payment is due to the host institution as follows: 
  • $500 Deposit February 28, 2018
  • $1,300 Balance April 15, 2018
