University Profile
Aston has been a leading university for graduate employment success for over 25 years. Founded in 1895 and a University since 1966, Aston is a long established research-led University known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce.

Aston Business School (ABS) is one of the largest business schools in Europe.

Location Summary
Aston University is based in the centre of Birmingham, home to over 65,000 students and one of Europe's liveliest and most welcoming cities.

Housing and Meals
Students who attend for the whole academic year are guaranteed on-campus accommodation as long as they apply by the deadline. See the Aston University Accommodation pages and International Student Accommodation webpage for more details. Students attending in Teaching Period 2 (arriving in January) may apply for on-campus accommodation, but allocation is not guaranteed.  Off-campus, there are many accommodation opportunities and the Advice and Representation Centre in the Students' Guild is happy to provide advice on locating them.

Insurance Requirement
All SDSU students will be automatically enrolled in the appropriate international health insurance for their study abroad term. The insurance charge will appear on your student account services billing shortly before departure. Students will receive more detailed instructions regarding insurance before departure.

All U.S. citizens studying in the United Kingdom for one semester (less than six months) are not required to apply for a visa. However, students going for a full academic year (more than six months) are required to apply for a Tier 4 Student visa. Please see the UK Border Agency website for more details and instructions.
