Program Description:
University Profile
Yokohama National University Trains Youths to Act on a Global Stage, Contribute to Society, and Be Practical. YNU is in its 137th year since its beginning – foundation of the Teacher Training Center – and is in its 62nd year since becoming a national university based in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. In research, YNU has published numerous findings that are recognized globally, beyond the Japanese cultural and industrial boundaries. YNU uphold "Be Global" as one of the four fundamental principles and actively promote international exchange both among researchers and students all over the world.

Academic Notes
Note: Students wishing to study at Yokohama National University must study at the school for a full academic year.

Language Notes
Yokohama National University offers courses in both English and Japanese.

Housing and Meals
The university has two international dormitories: the Ooka International Student Dormitory and the Minesawa International Student Dormitory. JOY students may stay in single rooms, which are furnished with a bed, desk, bookshelf, and closet. Accommodations for international exchange students at the University include, in addition to living facilities, such common-use facilities as consultation, study, and conference rooms.

Insurance Requirement
All SDSU students will be automatically enrolled in the appropriate international health insurance for their study abroad term. The insurance charge will appear on your student account services billing shortly before departure. Students will receive more detailed instructions regarding insurance before departure.
