University Profile
Jinan University is located in Guangzhou, China. It is also the first university to recruit foreign students and counts with eight programs delivered in English. In addition, Jinan University is the first of its kind in mainland China, where Chinese language and culture courses are available. Located in the 3rd biggest city in China with diverse culture and 200 miles away from Hong Kong and Macau, it is a university that gives students the opportunity to experience both, traditional and modern Chinese culture. Jinan University also has more than 10,000 overseas students. In recent years, Jinan University has always been ranked around the 50th among all Chinese higher institutes in terms of overall capacity.

The general program dates are:
Fall Semester: Early September to late January 
Spring Semester: Late February to mid-July

Note: If a student attends this university during the fall semester, the student has the option to choose courses with finals that take place before mid-January. 

Housing and Meals
Students are automatically arranged to live in a two-bedroom space. The cost is 350 USD per semester for each tenant; bills are excluded. The room is approximately 26 square Jinan University Campusmeters with private bath. Single bed, air-conditioning, closets, desks and chairs are available. Meals are affordable and can be purchased at the canteens on campus.

Insurance Requirement
All SDSU students are required by the Chancellor's office to be enrolled in the CSU Foreign Traveler Insurance Program (CSU FTIP) for their program abroad. The insurance charge will appear on the student's account services billing. Students will receive more detailed instructions regarding insurance before departure. For more information on costs, refer to the website.

Passport and Visa
You must have a valid passport to participate on an exchange program. Your passport must be valid for the duration of the program and for at least 6 months past the program end date to be eligible to receive a student visa.

A visa must be obtained to study in China. More information about the process is on the Consulate General of China in Los Angeles website.
