University Profile
The Center for Japanese Studies, or CJS as it is better known, was established at Nanzan over thirty years ago, and its comprehensive program now encompasses not only language-related studies but also courses in area studies as well as practical courses in traditional arts. In addition to the Center's dedicated language teachers, specialists from the social sciences and the humanities from the University's regular faculties contribute to the teaching in the program. The Center itself belongs to the Center for International Education, which oversees the entire range of the University's international teaching, research, and exchange activities.

If you are a Japanese major or minor, you must contact Dr. Yoshiko Higarashi Education Business Administration (EBA) 323, before beginning the application process.

Insurance RequirementNanzan University Campus
For the safety and welfare of our international students, Nanzan requires all full-time students to join the Japan National Health Insurance (JNHI) program and the Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research.

All SDSU students will be automatically enrolled in the appropriate international health insurance for their study abroad term. The insurance charge will appear on your student account services billing shortly before departure. Students will receive more detailed instructions regarding insurance before departure.
