Deakin University is a young and innovative multi-award winning Australian university with an international focus, which offers quality study abroad internship opportunities through its close links with government and leading corporations. Located in Victoria, Deakin University has four different campuses: the Geelong Waurn Ponds and Geelong Waterfront campuses, the Warrnambool Campus, and the Melbourne Campus. Offerings at an undergraduate and graduate levels include aquatic science, architecture, biology,
chemistry, computing, disability studies, environmental management, fine art, information management, journalism, Asian and Middle Eastern languages, law, literature, management, mathematics, nutrition and psychology. Deakin emphasizes interdisciplinary studies, with courses developed by teams of academic experts. Unusual course offerings include Australian studies (including Aboriginal history and identity, Australian politics, popular culture,relations with Asia, cities and regions, urban studies, military history and environment), Police Studies, and units focusing on Australian ecology and environment. Students should select the campus they wish to study at based on availability of units.

These are estimated dates that include their required welcome orientation the week before classes begin and final examinations. Although it is possible for two semester students to go during SDSU's academic year, it is better to stay with the Deakin Academic Calendar.

Note: At Deakin University, SDSU considers 200+ level courses as upper division.
Housing and Meals
Deakin University offers three housing options to exchange students: applying at any of their on-campus residences, enjoy a home-stay experience or receive assisted off-campus accommodation on arrival. Students that want to apply for residences should complete the online housing preference form as soon as possible, for which you will be given the link to in your offer letter, as selection is based on first in, first served.
As a compulsory condition of a student visa, all international students must have approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which provides medical and hospital coverage for international students while in Australia.
All SDSU students will be automatically enrolled in the appropriate international health insurance for their study abroad term. The insurance charge will appear on your student account services billing shortly before departure. Students will receive more detailed instructions regarding insurance before departure.
